MOVE TO A SAFE LOCATION.

If your car is a hazard where it is and is safe to drive, move it to the side of the road or sidewalk. Otherwise, just leave it where it is and get to safety.

If your vehicle is not safe to drive, the police officer may ask you where you want to tow your car in an effort to help clear the crash site quickly.

If possible, park where the disabled vehicle can be seen for 200 feet in both directions

  • Move the vehicle so that all four wheels are off the pavement.

  • Turn on your hazard flashers.

  • Passengers must get off on the opposite side of the traffic.

  • Tie a white cloth to the left door handle or antenna.

  • Raise the hood (if necessary).

Remember that you always have the right to choose your own towing service!
